    Alexander MacKenzie Heritage Trail
    Alexander MacKenzie was the first European to cross the Rocky Mountains, preceding the famous Lewis and Clark expedition by 12 years. The trail follows 420 km (261 mi) of MacKenzie's path, which also followed the ancient Grease Trail, used for thousands of years by members of the First Nations Carrier tribe. The trail extends from the mouth of the Blackwater River to Dean Channel, and is composed of highways, gravel roads, wagon roads, rivers and coastal waters.
