This small coastal park is a recognized cultural heritage area and the only permitted use of the area is day-visits by air or boat charter from Bella Coola or Bella Bella. The park is named after explorer Alexander MacKenzie who was the first European to cross Rocky Mountains. MacKenzie's voyage took place in the late 18th century. Situated on the province's central coast, it is accessible by sea or air. The park is popular among paddlers out to explore the coast and see marine mammals, terrestrial wildlife and birds. Oliver Cove Provincial Marine Park + My Favorites
Located on the south end of Don Peninsula along BC's central coast, the closest communities to Oliver Cove Provincial Marine Park are Bella Bella and Shearwater. While Oliver Cove is popular for boat anchorage, it is an undeveloped wilderness area with no facilities. The area can be seen by canoe but watch for the local black bear population.
